Woven gabions are made of double-twisted galvanized metal mesh, which is filled with rock fragments. The net itself is made of double-twisted galvanized wires Ф3.00 mm, which form hexagonal holes with a size of 80x100 mm. Unlike electro-welded gabions , here the structure is much freer and adjusts to the surface and the structures placed above it. The wire in electrowelded gabions is welded, not woven, and at the same time is stretched in the form of metal grids that are connected to each other by means of spirals or clamps. With woven gabions, spirals are not used, but only wire to tie their "lid" to the remaining pages of the gabion.

The application of woven gabions is mostly for various construction and engineering projects, due to their very high load capacity. In contrast to electrowelded ones, which are more often applied as decorative structures and those that do not experience high loads.

One of the positive properties of woven gabions is that they achieve a synergistic effect between the hexagonal mesh and the rock inert material. The hexagonal mesh is both compressive and tensile resistant, holding the rock pieces in their designated positions. While the filling of rock material has a very high compressive strength, where it does not allow displacement of the gabions themselves.

Application of woven gabions

Due to their high durability, woven gabions are mainly involved in the construction of structures for industrial, infrastructural and geotechnical construction. They are characterized by very high tensile and compressive strength, which is why they can withstand quite high earth pressure loads or even their own weight. This is achieved thanks to their free form and strong mesh of galvanized wire. For this reason, they are mainly used in construction activities, while the "stricter" structure of electrowelded gabions is mainly preferred in landscape design.

The main cases in which woven gabions are used are:

• for the strengthening of landslides, slopes, embankments and terrains prone to erosion, subsidence, landslides, etc.
• to strengthen sea and river banks;
• for the construction of dams and protection facilities;
• to create artificial riverbeds and drainage system beds that do not cause erosion;
• for construction and strengthening of dam walls;
• for the construction of road and railway objects;
• for terracing terrains and slopes with unevenness;
• and for various other types of engineering facilities

Woven gabions are usually sold in standard sizes, but individual ones can be made according to the technological characteristics of the site. Orders for individual sizes are accepted, according to the quantity specification.

The unevenness in our yard and garden is one of the things that usually hinders rather than helps the full use of the available space. When terracing a yard, different levels of a certain height are separated in steps. In order to achieve this effect, however, it is necessary to choose a suitable material with which to build the so-called terraces. Concrete, stone and bricks are often used to cope with the steep slope in the yard space. However, their implementation does not come out cheap at all, and on the other hand, the greater the unevenness in the yard, the higher the terraces will be and the more materials will be needed to create a sufficiently stable facility that will not succumb to the pressure on the earth's mass.

Woven gabions are probably already one of the most preferred solutions. Their high durability, both tensile and compressive, makes them very suitable in this case. They will allow you to use the space for plant areas, while at the same time they are easy to install, super eco-friendly, long-lasting and do not require much maintenance over the years. For their laying, no foundation is needed, only preparation and tamping of the soil, then the inert material is arranged. The excellent drainage properties of the gabions prevent landslides, deformations and collapses as a result of heavy rains and snowfalls.

Wicker gabions have another wonderful quality. They can be overstuffed into garden furniture. Regardless of whether they are used for strengthening or decorative purposes, they can easily be transformed into garden furniture.
