STI®A-150 is a one-part, acid curing silicone sealant with excellent mechanical properties and high cure speed for aquarium construction, fish tanks and industrial applications. STI®A-150 cures at room temperature under the action of atmospheric moisture to produce a permanently flexible silicone rubber.

Special Features

Stimul STI silicone sealant has the following properties:

  • does not disintegrate,
  • very fast crosslinking: quickly becomes non-sticky,
  • easy to use at low (+ 5 °C) and high (+ 40 °C) temperatures 4. low shrinkage on curing,
  • flexibility at low (-40 °C) and high temperatures (+150 °C),
  • excellent tooling properties,
  • special high viscosity paste.

Application

  • sealing of joints exposed to high mechanical loads;
  • sealing of joints that need to gain mechanical strength quickly;
  • Suitable for the construction of aquariums that meet the requirements of DIN 32 622. The thickness of the adhesive must be at least 1 mm. During curing, the temperature must be between +15 °C and +40 °C;
  • suitable for use in glazing and industrial applications as well as for the construction of silos and containers.

Restrictions for use

  • STI®A-150 should not be used on substrates such as marble, concrete, fibrous cement and mortar as the product releases acetic acid during curing;
  • STI®A-150 should not be used in contact with metals such as lead, copper, brass or zinc as corrosion will result;
  • STI®A-150 may discolor on contact with some organic elastomers, such as EPDM, APTK and neoprene;
  • STI®A-150 is not recommended for use on natural stone such as marble, granite, quartzite as it may cause staining;
  • STI®A-150 is not recommended for bonding structural glazing.

Adhesion

STI®A-150 exhibits excellent primer-free adhesion to most non-porous siliceous materials, e.g. glass, tile, ceramic, enamel, glazed tile and clinker; impregnated, varnished or painted wood; and some plastics. Users should conduct their own tests due to the wide variety of substances.

In many cases, adhesion can be improved by pretreating substrates with a primer. If adhesion difficulties arise, please contact our technical department.

Processing

The areas of the substrate that will be in contact with the sealant must be clean, dry and free of any loose material such as dust, dirt, rust, oil and other contaminants. Non-porous substrates should be cleaned with solvent and a clean lint-free cotton cloth. Remove residual solvent before it has evaporated with a new clean, dry cloth.

Storage

The "best before end of use" date of each batch is indicated on the product label. Storage beyond the date stated on the label does not necessarily mean that the product can no longer be used. In this case, however, the properties required for the intended use must be checked for quality assurance reasons.

Safety notes

Acetic acid is released during curing. These vapours should not be inhaled for long periods or in high concentrations. Good ventilation of the workplace is therefore necessary. If uncured silicone rubber comes into contact with the eyes or mucous membranes, the affected area should be rinsed thoroughly with water, as otherwise irritation will be caused.

Processing and storage

  • precautions for safe handling: ensure adequate ventilation. Must be siphoned in place. Keep away from incompatible substances;
  • precautions against fire and explosion: product may release acetic acid. Flammable vapors may accumulate and form explosive mixtures with air in containers, process vessels, including partial, empty and uncleaned containers and vessels, or other confined spaces. Keep away from ignition sources and do not smoke. Take precautions against electrostatic charging. Cool endangered containers with water;
  • conditions for storage areas and containers: comply with local/state/federal regulations;
  • storage advice for incompatible materials: comply with local/state/federal regulations;
  • additional storage information: store in a cool, dry place. Protect from moisture. Store container in a well-ventilated area.

Description of first aid measures

  • general information: in case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice (show the label or SDS where possible);
  • after eye contact: rinse immediately with plenty of water. Seek medical advice in case of prolonged irritation;
  • after skin contact: wipe off excess material with a cloth or paper. Wash thoroughly with water or water and soap. In case of visible skin change or other complaints, seek medical advice (show label or MSDS where possible);
  • after inhalation: the material cannot be inhaled under normal conditions;
  • after ingestion: give several small portions of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting.
