Frog-type Wire Rope Clamp

The frog-type clamp is a metal fastener for steel wire rope. In geosystems it is used to hold geocells in position when they are installed with tensioning ropes on steep slopes; in general construction it is used to form an eye (loop) at the end of a rope.

The clamp embraces both legs of the rope and, when the nuts are tightened, presses them together so the rope cannot slip. The clamp size is chosen according to the rope diameter.

How to choose the size

The clamp must match the rope diameter — an oversized clamp does not grip enough and an undersized one cannot be fitted. Tell us the rope diameter and we will recommend the right size.

Installation step by step

1. Pass the rope through the clamp (or bend its end into an eye).
2. Position the clamp so that the saddle sits on the loaded leg of the rope.
3. Tighten the nuts evenly.
4. For an eye use at least two to three clamps spaced apart.
5. After the first loading check and re-tighten the nuts if needed.

Can it be reused?
Yes, provided the clamp and thread are not deformed.
