Knitted gabions - a reliable way to strengthen

Gabions are structures that are increasingly used in construction and reinforcement work. Their structural characteristics make them a preferred tool in infrastructure, industrial and geotechnical construction. Gabions have high strength characteristics, thanks to which they can withstand very high loads caused by ground pressure, own weight or other.

How are knitted gabions made?

Knitted gabions are a variety of gabions and are made of double-twisted galvanized wire, standard thickness F3.00 mm. Usually the hexagonal hole, which is obtained as an "gabion eye", is 80x100 mm in size. Because the gabion itself is "braided" rather than "electrowelded", its structure is looser and "fits" with the surface below and above it. 

The cells of the knitted gabions are closed (tied) with the help of galvanized wire or galvanized brackets and filled with rock inert material. The braided net plays a retaining function, preventing the displacement of the rock pieces. In this way, they fit into the metal cage itself and can withstand very high loads.
