Wire mesh gabions are a resistant construction that is used in different types of construction works, mostly in fortification of river or sea shores, roads, highways and railways, for building retaining walls, canals and many more. They are a quick, easy and convenient way to build a durable construction that is not influenced by the atmospheric actions.

Gabions are mostly filled with river or quarry stones that have an appropriate shape. Diaphragms and supports are often put inside the gabions themselves to prevent their stretching and deformation. This way stability of the structure, used for fortification of different sites, is guaranteed. Gabions are an effective and an innovative solution when fighting landslides, when fortifying slopes, roads, river beds and dams.

• Wire mesh gabions are made in the Smart Metal Group rebar yard in Sofia.
• They are made of double-twisted wire mesh with a diameter of 3mm, cell size 8x10cm and a zinc coating (255 g/m2)
• The production of gabions and the supporting meshes is performed by using certified by the ISO 9001:2000 standard production line. They are in accordance to the following standards:  EN 10218-1, EN 10218-2, EN 10223-3, EN 10224-2 (class A), EN 10244-1.
