The Ø14 mm rock anchor with pointed tip is an L-shaped steel anchor, 125 cm long, designed for fixing gabions, geocells, geogrids and erosion control mesh where ordinary pegs are not enough: in rocky, stony and heavily compacted ground. The long shaft reaches deep into the base, while the 15 cm bent end hooks the structure and stops it from shifting.
Why an L-shaped rock anchor
On rocky ground the topsoil is often thin and cannot hold a structure by itself. The anchor passes through it and is fixed in the solid rock below. The L shape works like a hook: the straight shaft takes the load along its length, and the bent end presses the mesh, panel or cell against the base. The structure does not slide down the slope or lift under pressure from water, soil or wind.
The Ø14 mm diameter gives higher load capacity and stiffness. It suits heavily loaded structures: tall gabion walls, steep slopes, riverbank protection and areas with large water flows.
The pointed tip makes it easier to drive the anchor into hard, stony or weathered rock and into pre-drilled holes of smaller diameter. It enters without bending and centres itself in the hole.

Applications
- Fixing gabions and gabion retaining walls to a rock base
- Securing geocells on slopes and inclined ground
- Fixing geogrids, erosion control mesh and mats
- Stabilising rock slopes, road cuttings and embankments
- Protection of riverbanks, ravines and water areas
- Mountain roads, paths and sites on stony ground
Installation
- Layout. Mark the anchor positions according to the project. On slopes anchors are usually placed more densely at the top and along the edges of the structure.
- Drilling. In rock, drill a hole slightly larger than Ø14 mm and deep enough to take most of the anchor shaft. In weathered rock and compacted stony ground the pointed anchor can also be driven in directly or into a narrower pilot hole.
- Placing. Clean the hole of dust and insert the anchor so that the bent end hooks the mesh, cell or gabion wire.
- Fixing. If needed, fill the hole with cement mortar or anchoring compound for maximum hold.
- Check. Make sure the structure is tensioned, lies against the base and has no loose sections.
How to choose
- Ø12 or Ø14 mm. Ø12 mm is enough for most gabion and geocell structures. Choose Ø14 mm for tall walls, steep slopes and strong water flow.
- Flat or pointed tip. The flat tip is for drilled holes fixed with mortar. The pointed tip is for driving into hard and stony ground and faster installation.
- Number of anchors. Depends on the area, slope and type of structure. Send us the dimensions and a photo of the site and we will calculate the quantity.
Frequently asked questions
Can the anchor be used in ordinary soil?
Yes, but for soft soil the thinner anchors in the Fixing elements category are more cost-effective. The rock anchor is made for hard and rocky ground, where more length and strength are needed.
Do I always need to drill a hole?
In solid rock, yes. In weathered rock and compacted stony ground the pointed tip allows the anchor to be driven in without drilling or into a narrower pilot hole.
Do you sell per piece?
Yes, the anchors are sold per piece. For larger quantities and projects we will prepare an individual quote.
