Fiberglass Anchor Ø12 80cm
The fiberglass anchor Ø12 mm, 80 cm long, is a composite rod of glass fibres and polymer resin with a ribbed surface. It is used to fix geocells, geogrids and geonets to the subgrade and to stabilise slopes, embankments and banks.
Unlike steel, fiberglass does not rust or degrade in wet or salty soil, so the anchor keeps its holding capacity for decades — exactly where erosion and moisture are the biggest problem.
Why fiberglass
- No corrosion – unaffected by moisture, groundwater, salts and dilute acids.
- About 4 times lighter than steel of the same length – easier to carry and distribute along the slope.
- Ribbed profile – better grip in the soil, hard to pull out.
- Non-conductive and non-magnetic – safe near cable routes and causes no galvanic corrosion.
- Chemically resistant – suitable next to roads that are gritted and salted.

60 or 80 cm?
The 60 cm anchor is the standard for flat and moderately sloping areas with firm soil. The 80 cm length is chosen for steeper slopes, loose or made-up ground and thicker fill in the geocell — wherever the anchor needs to reach deeper, stable layers. This product is 80 cm long.
Installation step by step
- Prepare the subgrade and lay geotextile as a separation layer.
- Stretch the geocell into its design position.
- Drive the anchor with a hammer through the openings or wall of the cell; in very hard ground drill a pilot hole.
- Start at the top edge and work down; a typical spacing is 1–1.5 m, closer along the edges.
- Fill the cells with soil, gravel or concrete and compact.
Frequently asked questions
Can fiberglass withstand hammering?
Yes. The anchor is driven with a hammer just like a steel one. In stony ground it is best to drill a pilot hole so the end is not damaged.
How long does it last in the soil?
Fiberglass does not corrode, so the anchor does not lose cross-section over time the way unprotected steel does.
How many anchors do I need?
It depends on the area, gradient and soil. Send us the site details and we will calculate the quantity.
